Academic Requirements & Assessment Overview

Discussion Questions (DQs)

Generally, each week, students must answer one Discussion Question (DQ) and post responses on the GAP (gap.westcliff.edu) by the deadline.

Two peer responses for each question is also required within the same week. In other words, each student should discuss the DQ submission of the other two classmates.

Requirements: Answers should be at least one paragraph, research-based and include real world examples, citations, and analysis.

Peer Responses: Should add value by offering clarification, new perspectives, challenges or supportive feedback to promote academic discussion.

Professional Assignments (PAs)

PAs are designed to apply course concepts to real-world business scenarios.

Students must demonstrate critical thinking, analysis and practical problem-solving skills.

Submission Requirements: Responses should be clear, concise and professionally written following university formatting guidelines.

Important: Submission should be made in GAP and the write up should be plagiarism free as the GAP automatically detects plagiarism and use of AI tools via Turnitin.

Comprehensive Learning Assessments (CLAs)

CLAs assess mastery of all Course Learning Outcomes beyond memorization.

They include case studies, research papers, and presentations.

Requirements: Answers must show advanced analysis, research, and writing skills.

Students should demonstrate leadership, strategy, creativity, and problem-solving abilities in their submissions.

Proctored Exam (Exam supervised by Professor)

Authentic and Accurate Assessment: Proctored exams verify that students' work is genuinely their own, ensuring fair, consistent and reliable evaluation of individual understanding.

Real-World Skill Development: They foster accountability, discipline, and ethical behavior by simulating workplace conditions where individuals must perform under supervision and time constraints.

Institutional Credibility: By upholding academic integrity, proctored exams strengthen the value and trustworthiness of academic credentials for employers and graduate programs.

CLA/Project Presentation

Comprehensive Summary and Analysis: The CLA2/Project PowerPoint should concisely present key findings, analysis and recommendations from your final report, supported by visuals and professional formatting.

Integrated Learning Outcomes: Include insights and takeaways from all major assignments - PA1, CLA1, PA2, and CLA2/project to demonstrate learning progression and course integration.

Professional Presentation Structure: Incorporate essential slides such as an agenda, executive summary, and references, ensuring the presentation is clear, engaging and suitable for digital e-portfolio use.
